What is up with the Amy Butler fixation?
Ughh! At first it was reasonably cute because it was different from the usual hokey quilt shop prints. Now it’s become some type of crafter’s obsession AND what’s worse is that all of the fabric designers have begun to copy the overall look—modern geometrics and flowers. Goodness….when will all of the hype die down?
You are familiar with the concept of supply and demand, aren’t you? As long as people are avidly buying it, suppliers will continue to produce it. Just because that style isn’t to your taste doesn’t mean that others shouldn’t like it. Five to ten years ago, most quilters and crafters were older women, perfectly happy with the “hokey quilt shop prints.” Now there’s a whole new generation of modern, young crafters, and they want fabric that represents them. Fortunately, the industry has grown large enough to support many different styles.
