Butterick Pattern
How do I cut corduroy in a pattern?
I’m making the vest for Butterick 3906 (http://www.butterick.com/item/B3906.htm?tab=list/costumes&page=all) and I bought I corduroy, which I now feel might have been a mistake. I don’t know how to ensure that the garment looks good as far as the corduroy running at the same angle. How do I cut out the pattern to minimize this problem? I did buy 1 yard rather than the 5/8 yards it calls for, so I can make a few mistakes 
The pattern should have a layout called “with nap”. Follow that to cut out the fabric. If it doesn’t, cut all pieces with the top in the same direction (so that standing at one end of the fabric, the part of the pattern pieces that will be higher on your body are all farther away from you).
