Girl Scout Embroidered Patches Are a Long Standing Tradition

Since it was founded in 1912, the Girl Scouts of America has been providing young women with opportunities that help them develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. A big part of the program’s success is through its use of custom embroidered Girl Scout patches, also known as merit badges. The small pieces of memorabilia are handed out to individuals that exceed expectations by completing a series of tasks.
For example, to earn the Cookie Biz Badge, Girl Scouts must research one of the following careers– a project manager, a public relations representative, an accounting manager, an entrepreneur, a community philanthropist or an event manager. They also have to create an infomercial that shares their ideas for recipes using cookies as the main ingredients. Once the tasks on the list have been completed, the girl is given her custom embroidered participation patch which she must wear on the back of her uniform.

Girl Scouts of all ages have the opportunity to earn embroidered patches throughout the year. Individuals that attend camp or sell cookies are often rewarded with their very own customized gift.
